Social Responsibility

We continue to support our local community and to protect our environment as best as we can. Throughout the year we help and are sponsoring a large number of community events. A few examples of our environmental commitments are listed below.

Bullfrog Powered

The Tea Haus has been bullfrog powered since 2008.

We are a proud member of Eco Living London

Carbon Offset

For travels to tea-related events and countries, we participate in a carbon offset program. This reduces the emissions that our business activities generate. Reduce and Reuse - Ziplock bags

For in store customers, we encourage the reuse of the ziplock bags that are used to package the tea. Customers that return to the store can choose to bring in their own packaging. For further incentive we offer a 5 cent discount for each reused bag.

Reduce and Recycle - Packing Material

We do reuse much of the packing material that comes with many of our products. Cardboard boxes are reused for our internet orders; packing material is reused to secure your purchase during the shipment to your home.

Oxy-biodegradable bags - Packing Material

We use oxy-biodegradable bags. Exposed to air and heat they will break down over time.

Composting - Tea Leaves

We collect all the tea leaves used to prepare cups and pots of tea at the store and compost.

Reduce - Receipt paper

Our staff will ask customers if they require a receipt. We will gladly print one out but have noticed that the majority of customers dispose of the receipts before they leave the store. Less paper means more trees!

Eliminate - Water Bottles

When we are asked for water at The Tea Haus, our customers receive a glass of filtered water (no bottles!) free of charge. Water is a basic necessity of life and we don't believe in charging for it. Many people complain about the cost of gasoline but are more than willing to pay $2 for 591ml of water!
